Kiss Me, Kate is set in present time utilizing a mixture of contemporary and Shakespearean costumes and a Shakespearean set.

We are sure you will find this an interesting theatrical device. The set's simplistic design creates a more authentic mood for the Taming of the Shrew portion of the musical.

This is the 1991 revised version which includes the great tune, From This Moment On, a haunting and tender love duet.

History:

When Kiss Me, Kate was first produced on Broadway in 1948, the show represented a personal triumph for Composer Cole Porter and the rest of the theatre world.

Kiss Me, Kate also represents a prism or look back into the history of SLOC.Viewing our production (3rd time it has been produced by SLOC), should invoke fond memories of past actors,directors, and chorus members who have graced SLOC"S stage. Previous productions in 1965 and 1986 included such talent as Howard Moyer, Eileen Bush, Ted Peck, and Patty Searle--all who are no actively involved at SLOC, but still hold a place in our hearts.

Kiss Me, Kate will also make us recall with fond memories, artists such as Carmen Sgarlata, Ira Gilman, and Jack Byrns--who have gone on to a better world.
