Help Needed
SLOC needs our help in preparing our new home. It is time to do some key work on the Education Building (former Bethesda House), which will benefit all of us. We already have our costumes moved in and are rehearsing in this building. We are trying to get as much accomplished as we can before April 1st, when a famous person is scheduled to tour our new home and help raise money for this capital project and for the Capital Lyceum. There will be a press release on the April 1st details.
SLOC and the Capital Lyceum are working to prepare the Education Building as presentable for families that hopefully will decide on registering their child to attend the Capital Lyceum. The more presentable the space, the more likely the Capital Lyceum will get off to a good start this Fall. They hope to have close to 30 freshman students, which will support their planned budget. AND their success provides substantial rental income for SLOC, which should cover most of our basic operating costs.
So- we could use workers on Saturday's from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm- or any part of the day. The walls and ceilings are being prepped for painting. Some rooms are already for painting. They started sanding the floors, which are in great shape. Racks need to be built to hold our costumes in an organized way. Thousands of costumes have already been moved to the floor they will be stored on. What a job that was and we are glad that part is done-thanks for many volunteers.
